Window Gazing

A poem worth contemplating

Window Gazing

My soul is anchored ’tween heaven and hell
Dodging and ducking verbal abuse as I must.
I cannot escape this nightmarish shell,
What evil arrow does her wicked bow thrust?
Winter is upon my house and my heart.
Pacing the floor till my heal spurs ache.
Through mental windows I seek a new part
To the values of life now at stake.
Through these frosted windows I see passion and joy
For this painfully empty, bruised and battered soul.
Must I be treated as trinket or toy?
Is litigated relief my only goal?
What evil stirs in the menaced mind
Of powers that can squelch the torment I bare.
Dark, devious thoughts of various kind
Release me through to my frosted stare.
