The Riding Season Has Begun

Last year the month of May was relatively quiet and this year the events scheduled for May have expanded greatly over last year.  We have been on our first charity ride of the season, the Hogs & Heroes ride sponsored by Rolling Thunder Chapters 2 & 4.  The ride benefited Tech Sgt. Wilkinson who was injured in the Middle East.  The proceeds are being used to build a new house for the Tech Sgt. and his family, a home that is more conducive to his mobility issues.  We will report on that ride plus all of the other May rides and events we attend in the June issue.

In this issue we feature an event being held at the Essex County Fairgrounds to benefit the American Cancer Society.  When it comes to veterans, kids or cancer we are all over the event.  This is labeled as the 1st Annual event and I think it will grow into a major event in May each year.   See the article in this issue for the details and please make every effort to attend.

Americade and the events Around Americade are next month.  Last year we published an Americade Survival Guide and we received some positive feedback on the piece.  We dug it out of the archives, dusted it off, updated the content to reflect the new reality and republished it.  We have quite a few first time readers and first time riders and we felt that this would be beneficial to those readers.

Each year we publish a consolidated list of events and parties being held in the area during Americade week and this year is no different.  We publish this information in two articles.  The first article in May provides a look into the future and some of the event dates, times and content are shall we say fluid.  In June we publish the article again with the confirmed event information.

We are late getting this issue out to you and we apologize for that.  This is a part time enterprise and sometimes we just run out of time in our lives.  We were also waiting on some important scheduling information as well.

I am sure that we will bump into some of you during the rides scheduled in May and that is always a pleasure and something we look forward to.
