A schedule of Non-Americade events

Beyond Americade

When you have an event like Americade in your own backyard it tends to create an atmosphere conducive to riding and partying.  Each May we produce an article that details the rides and events being conducted by local establishments and clubs.  In the June issue we will publish this article again with the final details.

Events that we know are solid.  Click the  link to go to the entry in our Schedule of Events.

10th Annual Adirondack Poker Run To Benefit Downed Biker Fund

This event is hosted by our friend Whiskey Walker who has been a major part of motorcycling in this region for decades. Always a fun trip with a great group of people.

Boozefighters Chapter 80 Poker Run

This event is hosted by our very close friends (most of whom we grew up with) The Boozefighters Chapter 80 (Timberjacks).  Their slogan is come party with the Original Wild Ones.  Guaranteed to be a fun time.

Thursday, June 9, 2011 thru Saturday, June 11, 2011

3rd Annual Boars Nest Biker Bash

This is a 3 day event at one of the regions premiere Biker Bars.  The food is excellent, the beer and drinks are plentiful and cold and the bands are loud.  Hit this event any evening and you will not be disappointed.  HIt it during the day and you are liable to find someone in the burn out pit.  If you stop by say hi to Brit and tell her you found out about her place here.

Bolton Bike & Art Fest - Gear Up, Cruise, and Stroll

This is a new event this year being held at Veterans Park in Bolton Landing, NY and hosted by the Bolton Landing Chamber of Commerce.  There will be Arts & Crafts, music, food, used bikes for sale and much more.  Since this is the first time this event is being held, we can not tell you much about it.  It does however seem to be somewhat of an eclectic mix of activities for Americade week.  We are going to cruise on over there and see what is up.  Besides, three of my grandchildren live in Bolton Landing so it will also give me an opportunity to stop and say hi.

American Legion Riders & Patriot Guard Riders Veterans Recovery Project Escort

In my book, this is a must do event.  The Patriot Guard Riders Veterans Recovery Project works to recover the remains of veterans that are sitting abandoned on the shelves of funeral homes.  Once the remains are discovered and recovered and the veterans service is verified, they are eligible to be laid to rest in the Saratoga National Cemetery.  This ride ussually proceeds from the American Legion Post in Lake George, NY to a funeral home in Schuylerville, NY where the remains are retrieved and then the ride escorts the hearse to the Saratoga National Cemetery.  At the cemetery, a flag line is formed and these forgotten veterans are given the full military funeral that they earned and deserve.  Even if you are not a PGR or American Legion member you are encouraged to participate in the ride.

Leathernecks black Line Run

We do not have any experience with this particular run but we have ridden with the Leathernecks in the past and have found their runs to be well managed and a pleasure to attend.  We are sure that you would not be disappointed if you attended this run.

Charity Poker Run & Pig Roast

This event is being held at American Legion Post 490 located in Stillwater, NY.  We do not have any experience with this particular run but we can tell you from past experience that Americal Legion Post 490 is set up to handle the event.  We found the food, liquid refreshments, facilities and service to be excellent.  Throw in a pig roast and you have a combination that would be hard to beat.

Sporty's Annual Bike Show in Association with The Goat Brothers

If you have never been to Sporty's Iron Duke Slaoon in Minerva, NY then this is an event that you must attend.  Sporty's is stuffed full of motorcycle memorabilia and there are even 3 bikes on display in the bar.  Sporty's is one of the premeire biker friendly bars in the area.  This custom bike show has marked the end of the Americade week for many years now.  The crowds for this event are always huge so arrive early and plan on staying late.  If you do not have a great time at this event, you need to have your pulse checked.  The proceeds of this event are donated to the Christopher Reeve's Foundation for the support of spinal cord research.

During the Americade Week, Ashes Hotel in Warrensburg hosts a series of events to celebrate what the locals refer to as Bike Week and the start of the riding season.  As of the publication of the May issue, not all of the details have been ironed out.  We will publish their final schedule with full details in the June issue.  All events will be conducted rain or shine in either the large tent or on the patio.  Be advised that dates and times are still tentative.

Friday, June 3, 2011

2nd Annual Summer Kickoff & Bike Week Party.  Party starts around 8:00 PM and will have live music with a band to be announced at a later date.

Saturday, June 4, 2011

The Boozfighters Chapter 80 (Timberjacks) Poker run starts at CB's but ends at Ashes.  If you do not catch the ride at least stop by and party with the Original Wild Ones.

Wednesday, June 8, 2011 and Thursday June 9, 2011

Live music both evenings.  The fun will more than likely start at around 9:00 PM.

Friday, June 10, 2011

2nd Annual Concert to benefit the Jack Falzo Foundation.  An outdoor concert & dance party to the sounds of the Electric City Horns.  Festivities start at 8:00 PM.

Saturday, June 11, 2011

Outdoor concert / bike week finale party.  Live music starts at 8:00 PM.

Outside Americade Vendor Sites

Besides the vendors at Americade's Tour Expo you will also find vendors in the communities north and south of the Village of Lake George.

Warrensburg, NY,  located 5 miles north of Lake George Village on Route 9.  Here you will find vendors the length of Main Street (Route 9).  The vast majority of the vendors will be found at the northern part of town near the Post Office.  There is ample free parking and you will find a wide variety of goods and services.

South of the Village of Lake George on Route 9 is the Leather Outlet which is defined by a prominent 2 story white tee-pee.  During Americade week you can not miss the place.  Just head south on Route 9 and drive until you see a large number of bikes on the right hand side of the road.  There are always a number of vendors set up there.

If you travel further on down Route 9 for about a mile or so you will find a concentration of strip malls that the locals refer to as the million dollar half mile.  There are usually vendors scattered through out that area as well.  Boss Hoss is known to set up in this area.

If you take route 9N north out of the Village of Lake George for about 8 miles you will come upon the Village of Bolton Landing.  The Bolton Landing Chamber of Commerce is hosting a three day event named the Bolton Bike & Art Fest.  There will be Arts & Crafts, music, food, used bikes for sale and more.  This is the first year for this event so wander on up to Bolton Landing and see what is going on.
