1st Annual Classic Car Show & Motorcycle Rally
An event to support the American Cancer Society
"We saw something we didn't like." "There was something that looked abnormal." "See this spot on the x-ray."
Statements like these are heard every day by people who have been just diagnosed with a cancer. If a physician has never said phrases similar to this to you then stop what you are doing and thank God for that small favor. Those who know me on a personal level know that I am a cancer survivor. Very early detection, a skilled surgeon, a very caring hospital staff, close and supportive friends and the most loving family a man could ask for were there for me in my time of need. Unless you have experienced this yourself, you truly do not comprehend the terror that is felt in those first couple of weeks. I thank God evey day that I survived the ordeal and was given a cure. Many of those stricken with cancer do not have a cure and live day to day knowing that the scourge may return to ravage their bodies and tear apart their souls.
Molly Westover owns the Old Mine Inn in Moriah Center. If you ride through Moriah then you know that the Old Mine Inn is biker central in that area. She is currently being treated for cancer but in spite of the burden of her treatments and running a business, she has found the time to put together a 3 day event to benefit the American Cancer Society. It is being held at the Essex County Fairgrounds in Westover NY. The details are listed below. When Mary decided she wanted to hold this event she reached out to the two friends that she knew she could count on, Sporty and Wack. Wack sent us the details that you see below.
Since this is a three day event, we each should be able to carve out a little time to travel to this event and support this very important cause and also show Molly that bikers take care of their own. Karen and I are planning to go on Saturday to meet Molly and see the cars. It just sounds like a great event.
