Warrensburg Bike Week 2010

Warrensburg Bike Week 2010

It all started eight or so years ago when a non-resident rented a vacant piece of property on Main Street in Warrensburg near the Post Office and offered spaces to vendors who were not associated with Americade.  The following year the locals got smart and decided to sell the vendor spaces themselves.

As each Americade passed, more and more vendors came to the 'Burg' to set up shop.  It is a great place to do business.  There are a large number of vendors located up and down Main Street, the parking is free and it is only a five minute ride north on Route 9 from the Village of Lake George and the natives are relatively friendly.

With a continuous flow of bikes in and out of town it was the perfect environment for the locals to start hosting events and rides and what used to be a loose gaggle of vendors started to become organized and eventually became known as Warrensburg Bike Week.  Each year more events are added, most of which support local charities or not for profit organizations.

The schedule for this year is not yet firm but we will tell you what we know:

6/5/2010 - 6/12/2010

The North Country Ministries contributes to the well being of the people in the area both physically and spiritually.  They are one of the many organizations that will receive a benefit from Warrensburg Bike Week.

They will be staffing an Information and Registration Booth at their headquarters on Main Street across from the post office.  Stop by and register with Warrensburg Bike Week so that they are able to inform you of the schedule of events for next year.

6/5/2010     Charity Ride for local resident Tami Benoit

Tami is recovering from thyroid cancer and this run is to assist Tami and the family with expenses.

The ride will depart from Ashes Hotel on Hudson Street and return to Ashes Hotel in time for the participants to attend the concert being held in the Town Center at 1:00 PM

Registration is from 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM and the ride departs at 10:00 AM.

A breakfast buffet is included and will be served starting at 7:30 AM.

The cost is $15.00 per rider or $20.00 per couple.

6/5/2010 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM

A concert at the Band Stand in the center of town.  The authorities close down one of the streets and the band "Chain Lightning" will entertain the crowd.  This surely will turn into an old fashioned street dance.

6/6/2010   Breakfast to support the Elementary School Playground Fund

Breakfast will be served at the Warrensburg Elementary School Cafeteria from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

6/7/2010 5:00 PM    A Service to Honor Local KIA Personnel

6/12/2010   A Ride to Benefit The North Country Ministries

The ride is being sponsored by the Flaming Pumpkins MC and will depart CB's Restaurant & Pub on River Street.  This is a wet ride through the Adirondacks.

From CB's the ride will proceed to Minerva with a refreshment stop at Sporty's Iron Duke Saloon.  From Sporty's the ride will proceed to Newcomb where there will be a lunch stop at the Newcomb House.  Lunch is optional and there is an additional $5.00 charge for lunch.  From the Newcomb house the ride will proceed through Long Lake to Indian Lake where it will stop at the Bear Trap for what else, refreshments (anyone seeing a pattern here).  A departure from the Bear Trap will lead the participants to Laura's in North Creek.  From Laura's the ride proceeds to J & J's Fox Laire Tavern in Bakers Mills where there will be a pig roast.  I took this ride last year and it was a blast and the pig roast was fantastic.

As mentioned, the ride forms at CB's on River Street.  Registration is from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM with clutches out at 11:00 AM.

The cost of participation for the ride is $15.00 per rider or $20.00 per couple which includes the cost of the pig roast but not the cost of the lunch at the Newcomb House.

6/12/2010  A Benefit Party at the Ashes Hotel

This party is to benefit the Jack Falvo III Foundation which is attempting to build "Jacks' Place", a residence near the Sunny View Hospital. "Jack's Place" will provide a place to stay for family members whose loved ones are receiving treatment at the Sunny View Hospital.

The benefit begins at 3:00 PM and there will be live entertainment, raffles and an outdoor BBQ.

There is a $5.00 donation at the door and the cost of the BBQ is additional.

As mentioned earlier, not all of the details are final.

We published this article with what we had, to give you some time to plan.

The final details will be published in the June issue which will be available to you on May 31st.
