Boars Nest Bar & Grill

The year was 2008 and the recession was in full swing, new home sales were down 26% and existing home sales were down 10%.  Somewhere within this maelstrom of events Britt Patch was trying to determine the course of her future.  Britt was a mortgage councilor and it was apparent to even the most casual observer that there was not much of a future in Real Estate.

Boars NestIt was at this point in time that Britt decided that she should take a different path to her future.  Rick & Carols was an old school classic country bar located in West Fort Ann since the 1980's.  The establishment was for sale and Britt decided that her future endeavors would revolve around owning a tavern/restaurant.  In August 2008, Britt purchased Rick & Carols and proceeded to refurbish the business with the name "The Boars Nest Bar & Grill" and the newly named establishment was opened in January 2009.

Britt

When I asked Britt how she came up with the name she told me when she and her boy friend first approached the tavern he said; "This place kind of looks like that bar in the movie the Dukes of Hazard".  After renting the movie and seeing that the bar in the movie very closely resembles the bar she was thinking of buying she decided to name it after the bar in the movie which was named The Boars Nest.

Line DancingFrom the start Britt decided that the Boars Nest would be "One of those down home places where you feel comfortable walking into".  Once you get to know Britt you realize why she is able to make sure that the Boars Nest is a fun place to be. It is really simple; the Boars Nest reflects her personality.  On Saturday nights there is a live band which is usually a Rock band.  Every 2nd and 3rd Sunday night is Classic Country from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM.  Pool Table areaThursday nights is beginners Line Dancing starting at 6:00 PM with intermediate and advanced classes starting at 7:30 PM.  DJ Bill and Susie provide the music and instruction.  Every 3rd Friday of the month is Karaoke night from 8:00 PM to 12:00 PM.  There is a large selection of wines and liquors available and the beer is available on tap.  The tavern section is also equipped with several flat screen televisions for your viewing enjoyment and the prerequisite pool table is present as well.

Dining AreaThe Boars Nest is also a restaurant with full service dining and a full menu selection.  They are known for their steaks which are hand cut and grilled to order and for their baby back ribs coated in their own homemade barbeque sauce.  The steaks are even available Au Poivre which is this author's favorite method of steak preparation.  There is ample comfortable seating in the dining area which is segregated from the hustle and bustle of the tavern area and the service is fast and courteous.

Main StructureIf you are planning a festival or party, the Boars Nest is equipped to fully cater your event. There is ample room within the main structure to seat upwards of 150 people.  If your activity plans lean more towards an outdoor event, the covered pavilion will suite your needs nicely.  Since the Boars Nest is a tavern and a restaurant they can fully cater your event down to the last detail.  There are horseshoe pits, volleyball nets and a bonfire pit available for the use of your guests.

Burn OutDuring the week of Americade the Boars Nest Bar & Grill hosts its' Annual Biker Bash.  This year the eveBoars Nest Bikent runs from June 10th to June 12th.  On Friday June 11th there is a run to benefit the local SPCA.  There is no cost for the run but a donation to the SPCA would be welcomed and is very highly encouraged.  The ride will begin at 6:00 PM at the Boars Nest and will end at the Boars Nest.  There will be a party in the field with live music when the ride returns.  Throughout the three day event there will be mud wrestling, wet t-shirt contests, burn-out competitions, bonfires and live bands.  Camping is available and it is suggested that you reserve your site early as the sites tend to fill up fast.  We will be there Friday night so if you are there, look us up.  The bulk of the activities occur on Saturday June 12th but there is plenty to do every night of the Biker Bash.

The Boars Nest Bar and Grill is a great place to get away from it all.  The atmosphere is casual, laid back and easy going.  Britts' emphasis is to provide a venue where her customers can relax and have a good time and to that end she is extremely successful.  The establishment is well suited to cater any size event from a small party to a large extravaganza.  I would very highly suggest that if your club needs a venue for an event or a place to stop for lunch on a ride, that you consider the Boars Nest Bar & Grill.  If you are riding on Route 149 and just need a place to relax and take a load off, take the 3 minute trip down Patten Mills road and stop at the Boars Nest.  You will be glad that you did.
